Two prospects from Cowan High School were also among the day’s top performers. Outfielder Kirby Campbell (class of 2009) ran 6.45 and 6.57 in the 60, and his velocity from the outfield was recorded at 87 mph. Meanwhile, high school teammate Justin O’Conner (2010) proved himself as one of the state’s best two-way players. The RHP/SS threw in the upper 80s from the mound while demonstrating good bat speed and power as a hitter.
Other standout players included:
Adam Norton, Andrean HS (2009): The SS/RHP ran 6.78 in the 60 and his velocity across the infield clocked in at 87 mph. He can also flat-out hit.
Clay Wallace, Cathedral HS (2010): The OF/RHP ran 6.84 in the 60 and topped out at 91 mph from the outfield. Additionally, Wallace hit 88 mph from the mound even though he pitched in a game only two days prior to the showcase.
Matt Reida, Western HS (2010): The INF/P ran 6.71 and 6.87 in the 60 and hit 87 mph with good carry from the outfield. He also showed good action in the infield and on the mound, demonstrating his all-around ability.
