Scott Scheumann, a 6-foot-4, 180-pound right-hander from Bishop Dwenger High, has committed to the University of Evansville. Relatively unknown before the summer, Scheumann emerged as a prospect to pay close attention to playing with the Fort Wayne Cubs.

With a lean, athletic frame and loose arm, Scheumann consistently showed an 84-86 mph fastball and climbed as high as 89. He also throws a tight curveball and changeup. Scheumann was impressive all summer, but on July 25 he made a big name for himself. With several college coaches present to watch Fort Wayne Cubs teammate Patrick Veerkamp in game one of a doubleheader, Scheumann pitched game two and made the most of the opportunity.
