Purdue lands threePurdue University just landed three stellar prospects to their recruiting class when they received commitments from LaPorte HS RHP Connor Podkul, catcher Kyle Upp, and Lawrence Central MIF Brandon Krieg… Kyle Upp, a strong-armed catcher from LaPorte high school, was 11-for-18 in throwing runners out with a .993 fielding percentage. The All-Duneland conference player hit .333 with 10 doubles, 2 home runs, 30 RBIs and a .472 on-base percentage. The 6-foot-4, 200-pound right-handed pitcher Connor Podkul (pictured right) from LaPorte high school, posted an 8-2 record in 56 plus innings with a 1.49 ERA and 79 strikeouts. Hitters hit just .204 off of Podkul. Lawrence Central’s middle infielder Brandon Krieg batted .340 with 6 doubles, 3 triples, 4 home runs, .527 on-base percentage, and was a perfect 18-for-18 in stolen bases. |
